ISSUES
Jackson County is growing at a rapid pace. The Georgia Department of Community Affairs estimates that the population of Jackson County has increased by almost 10,000 people in 3 years. The Jackson County School System has seen an increase of almost 1,500 students from last school year. As the population grows, so must the vision for the Sheriff's Office.

Chris believes in a strong foundation of transparency, trust, collaboration with other entities, and community engagement to make the Jackson County Sheriff's Office thrive and create a safer and more prosperous Jackson County. Chris plans to reduce crime and the fear of crime by focusing on the below issues.
Community Engagement

Community policing should be infused throughout the agency and not just as a program or unit. Deputies and other employees should be given ample latitude to participate in problem-solving and community engagement.

Training and Equipment

The Sheriff's Office should have equipment and training to attempt to stabilize a critical situation and reduce the immediacy of the threat so that more time, options, and resources can be called upon to resolve the incident.

Transparency & Accountability

Georgia State Certification is an avenue to evaluate policy, limit liability, and reduce risk, which leads to better transparency and increases organizational legitimacy.

Fiscal Responsibility

The Sheriff has a responsibility to be a good steward of the taxpayer's money and manage the budget efficiently. In addition to respecting every taxpayer dollar, the Sheriff must understand alternative funding sources.

Employee Wellness

The wellness and safety of law enforcement personnel are directly correlated with public safety.
